CULLMAN – The Cullman Police Department is hosting a community cookout this Friday, May 19 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Festhalle downtown. The cookout, sponsored by Cullman Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, is free and everyone is welcome.

Cullman Police Sgt. Adam Clark is one of the organizers of the event and is excited to reinstate something he hopes will become an annual tradition.

“The idea was to have at least one of these every year,” Clark said. “We just ran into a bunch of scheduling complications last year.”

The cookout is back on this year, and now on a Friday, as opposed to Saturday in year’s past. The food will be free, and cooked by members of the CPD. Pepsi has donated beverages to the event as well.

“We don’t have any agenda and we are not pushing anything on anyone, just a time for everyone to come by and have a hamburger or a hot dog, some chips and a drink, and just have fun,” Clark said.

“We had some talks about some of the problems of having the event on a Friday, with it being a work day and all,” he continued. “But we figured if we scheduled it from 11 to 2, that would cover everyone’s lunch break and they might come by, check us out, and grab a burger on their break.”

Christian radio station WDJC will be broadcasting live from the event.
