FAIRVIEW – It felt more like football weather that futbol weather when, on senior night, the Fairview Aggies welcomed the West Point Warriors to Dafford Smith Stadium.

West Point went on the offensive early. Within the first six minutes, West Point put two shots on goal an open field shot off the right foot of Micah Coucke and a penalty kick by Axel Roman. However, after the initial Warrior flurry, the rest of the half belonged to the Aggies. Dylan Harper and AB Diaz combined for five shots on goal with the latter finally finding the back of the net with a right-footed shot from 14 yards out that settled in the near corner at the 8:35 mark of the first half. This gave Fairview the 1-0 lead at the half.

West Point controlled the majority of the second half, putting three shots on goal early. Logan Selby and Coucke each had a shot on goal in the first 20 minutes but it was Samuel Flores that got the Warriors their first goal with a nice juke and a hard shot off his right foot that buried the ball in the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1 with a little more than 20 minutes left to play. The Warriors and the Aggies swapped shots on goal over the next 17 minutes, with West Point getting the best of it. With 3:13 left to play, West Point was awarded a direct kick from 27 yards out. A three-man wall was set but some confusion caused one player to break off and the two-man wall split just as Javier Tores snapped off the free kick. The kick slid through the crack in the wall and hooked around the near post for the goal. Fairview was unable to answer and West Point went on to defeat the Aggies 2-1.

In less than five minutes, the Lady Aggies were on the board with a goal. Making a run down the middle of the box, Tiffany Lodge ripped a right footed shot that took a funny bounce and slid past the West Point goalie to give the Lady Aggies a 1-0 lead. Despite the hard play and determination of West Point, Fairview was able to ride the early goal to victory.
