HOLLY POND – Both the Locust Fork Lady Hornets and the Holly Pond Broncos stay undefeated in the regular season and in the area with big wins tonight.

Holly Pond 82, Locust Fork 47 (Boys)

The first quarter featured both teams playing even ball for most of the quarter. With the game tied at 12 after a layup by Locust Fork's Ethan Moser, the Broncos grabbed the lead when Andrew Shaw went 1 of 2 from the line, then he hit a three to push the lead to 16-12 as No. 2 Holly Pond finished on a 7-2 run to take a 19-14 lead after one.

The Broncos continued their momentum from the end of the first quarter to the second as they dominated on both sides of the ball. They got contributions from almost the whole team as they outscored the Hornets, 28-14, to take a commanding 47-26 lead at the half. They pushed the lead to 30 in the third quarter and they never got threatened by Locust Fork as they went on to the easy win to stay undefeated at 13-0 and improved to 3-0 in area play.

Every Bronco player finished in the scoring column on the night, led by Bailey Smith with 12. Griffin Morris and Matt Cahoon had 10. Drew Jones finished with eight. Mathis Garrett, Jacob Harris and Andrew Shaw all had seven. They will host Cold Springs on Monday night.

"We got them really tired and frustrated after the first quarter," Holly Pond coach Mitch Morris said. "It makes my job as a coach a lot easier when my guys can spread the ball around and get everyone involved. I can sub five in, five out and get contributions from everyone. We moved a couple of guys up from JV and they have really stepped up. We have some guys that can score 20 or more points, but if we spread the ball around and get nine, 10 or 11 guys involved, it makes for a great team."

Daniel Goss led Locust Fork with 12 points. Drew Rogers finished with nine and Bay Etheredge had seven. The Hornets fall to 8-5 on the season and 2-2 in area play. They will be involved in a Christmas tournament at Springville on Dec. 28.
