BETHSADIA – A mass resignation at the Bethsadia Volunteer Fire Department occurred this week, with seven members leaving their jobs due to a multitude of reasons, all detailed in a letter sent to the Bethsadia VFD Board of Directors and Bethsadia Fire Chief Buddy Carden. The resignation leaves the community with no EMS or actively certified firefighter coverage.

Those leaving include assistant chief Maurice Reynolds, who says that the department covers 27 square miles, which includes 800-900 households.

When reached for comment tonight, Carden said, "They resigned from the fire department, they have no more authority for the fire department."

Carden says there will be a board meeting at 7 p.m Thursday night, Dec. 1, at Bethsadia VFD, station 1. The public is welcome to attend to hear all sides of the story. The VFD is located at 454 County Road 804 in the Bethsadia community.

The letter, dated Nov. 23, was obtained today by The Cullman Tribune and is attached below.
