Good Hope angler wins 1st place in district tournament

Hagen Speegle shows off his winning bass at last weekend’s ASABFA tournament on Smith Lake.

TRIMBLE – Good Hope's Hagen Speegle rose above 135 competitors last weekend at Smith Lake to take home the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association (ASABFA) District 3 tournament.

Speegle accounted for 7.90 pounds of live bass at the weigh-in and also brought in the largest fish, tipping the scale at 3.77 pounds.

Four of the top nine student anglers came from Cullman County. Kyle Calvert of Good Hope was fourth at 5.54 pounds, Jesse Blackmon of Good Hope had 4.89 and Eli Chambers of Vinemont took ninth place with a total of 4.22 pounds caught.

Brodie Curvin from Vinemont was 21st at 3.49 pounds, Will Dickerson of Good Hope 31st at 2.79, Landon Graham of Good Hope 38th at 2.61, Alex Currington of Good Hope 45th at 2.77 and Maison Evans of Addison took 48th place at 2.38 pounds.
