CULLMAN – The 8th Annual Cullman County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments Golf Tournament will be here before you know it. The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at Cross Creek Golf Course in Cullman. All 26 volunteer fire departments in Cullman County are involved with the tournament, which will be a 3-man scramble.

“We use the money that we make from the tournament to buy Christmas gifts for underprivileged kids in Cullman County,” said Good Hope Fire Chief David Scott. “We call the schools and work with the Christmas Love programs. Some of our schools have sponsors, but there are other schools that are waiting on us to call because they need our help.”

Scott says that all of the VFDs are actively working to get sponsors for the tournament.

“We had around 70 hole sponsors last year, and we are trying to reach 100 this year,” he said.

As for teams, 2015 saw 22 in the tournament, and the group is hoping for more this time around.  Entry fees are $60 per person or $180 for a team.

For information on hole sponsorships or to sign up to play, contact David Scott at 256-339-3789, Joe Golden at 256-339-9529 or Jamie Garmon at 256-338-2237.
