CULLMAN – The Cullman City Building Department is reporting that it has received numerous complaints about election campaign signs this year.

"We try to be lenient in our enforcement of the sign ordinance during elections, as long as the signs do not create a traffic hazard or public nuisance," said a statement from the department.

Fall festivals, the fair and fall sports begin soon, which means City employees are busy mowing and cleaning up so that the city is neat and clean when visitors arrive for these events.

"Please help us accomplish this by removing all campaign signs and all other unnecessary signs, banners etc. immediately after the election."

Additionally, the department reminds citizens to please remember to remove the support wires for these signs as they are extremely dangerous if struck by a mower and can damage property and injure people or pets.

"Your cooperation with this helps keep our city neat and clean."
