CULLMAN – While the varsity football teams have been on the practice field for almost two weeks, so have the youth programs across Cullman County.

Since the end of last season, changes have been witnessed with the addition of the Good Hope Outlaws, giving the Good Hope community two teams to have in the 10-team county youth league.

The Raiders have been located in the East Division and will be paired with the Cullman Bearcats, Fairview Aggies, Holly Pond Broncos and Parkside Panthers.

In the West Division, the Outlaws are joined by the Cullman Cyclones, Hanceville Bulldogs, West Point Warriors and Vinemont Eagles.

The top two teams in each division in the fireplugs, wee wees and pee wees will qualify for the county playoffs with the East Division winner and runner-up to play each other while the top seed and second seed in the West will be the other half of the playoff bracket.

A jamboree has been scheduled the weekend of Aug. 19-20 at the West Elementary School field. That's home for the Bearcats. The Cyclones play their home games at St. Bernard Prep School.

The schedule has the Good Hope teams meeting one another on the 19th starting at 6 p.m. with the fireplugs, followed by the wee wees and pee wees games.

On the 20th, a busy day of youth football will begin at 9 a.m. as the Cyclones meet Holly Pond. At noon, it's Hanceville vs. Parkside while West Point and the Bearcats clash at 3 p.m., with Vinemont and Fairview in the finale at 6 p.m.

The regular season kicks off on the 27th with Vinemont at Good Hope, the Bearcats hosting the Outlaws, Holly Pond traveling to Hanceville, the Cyclones visiting Parkside and West Point meeting Fairview.
