CULLMAN – With the end of the school year just days away, it is time for summer sports clinics and the first on the docket is the Cullman High School Volleyball Clinic.
“I view this clinic as a chance to invest and instill a love of the sport of volleyball,” said CHS Head Volleyball Coach Michelle Greenlee. “Many players never have the opportunity to learn the mechanics of the sports until seventh grade.”
The clinic will be hosted at the Cullman High School Auxiliary Gym. Instructors include Greenlee, Todd Greenlee, Meagan Cagle and the current members of the Cullman High School volleyball team.
“I love the opportunity to teach these fundamental skills to a younger age (group),” said Greenlee. “I have always loved to watch younger people learn and to see the excitement and pride they exhibit when they excel at new skills.”
The clinic is open to players in the fifth through seventh grades, but exceptions are sometimes made based on size and skill level.
“I have allowed fourth and eighth graders to attend,” spoke Greenlee.
The clinic will kick off June 13 and run through the 15th. It will start at 8 a.m. and end around 11 a.m. each day. The cost of the clinic is $50 per participant. Non-marking tennis shoes, T-shirt and shorts and a water bottle are required. Volleyball knee pads are optional but recommended.
Passing, setting, serving, attacking and blocking will all be covered, and each participant will receive a T-shirt and a volleyball.
Registration forms and fees are due May 25. CHS is located at 510 13th St. NE, Cullman, AL 35055.
If you have a volleyball player who is looking to improve her skills, this is s a wonderful opportunity for her to learn the skills needed to play volleyball at the next level.
