50 Yesterday and Today: A Musical Birthday Celebration for Wallace State

As part of Wallace State Community College’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, the Wallace State Singers will present a special concert commemorating the last five decades. 50 Yesterday and Today: A Musical Birthday Celebration for Wallace State, will be held April 7-9 in the Recital Hall of the Burrow Center for Fine and Performing Arts. Shows will be at 7 p.m., nightly. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Reserve tickets by called 256.352.8277. Tickets will also be available at the door.

 

FREE Smoke Alarm Installations for Cullman City and County Residents

April 7, 3-7 p.m.; April 8, 3-7 p.m.; April 9, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.; and April 10, 1-6 p.m.

The Cullman American Red Cross, Commission on Aging and the United Way of Cullman County are partnering to provide FREE smoke alarm installations and life-saving fire safety education. For more information or to schedule an appointment for installation, call 256-734-0921.

 

2016 State of the Schools Address/Student & Teacher of the Year Presentation

April 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Wallace State Community College in the Nursing Building Conference Center. Superintendent Susan Patterson of the City Schools System and Superintendent Shane Barnette of the County Schools System, along with Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics, will deliver the State of the Schools address. Awards will be presented for the Student and Teacher of the Year. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; program begins at 6 p.m.

 

Beginner Quilting Class

April 4-7 at the Alabama Cooperative Extension, 402 Arnold St. NE, Ste. G-1; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; $50 if you provide your own top and backing materials; $100 if all materials are to be provided by the instructor. For more information, call 256-737-9386.

 

Cullman High School Percussion 2016 Dinner with the Drumline Fundraiser

BBQ plates are $10, catered by Mad Dog Mike's BBQ; Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. (carry-out starts at 5:30); CHS cafeteria; Dinner will be followed by the annual CHS Spring Percussion Concert at 7:30 in the CHS auditorium. The concert is FREE to the public.

 

Color Me Calm Adult Coloring Program

April 7, 2-4 p.m. Turn off your phone, unplug your computer and join in for a time of stress-busting coloring for adults.  Enjoy a little relaxation at the Cullman County Public Library with the “Color Me Calm” Adult Coloring Program. 200 Clark Street NE. This is a free program. All materials provided.

 

Flip Flops, Faith & Fun

East Cullman Baptist Association Ladies Retreat; Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Duck River Baptist Church. Make Plans to Attend and Wear Your Cutest, Fanciest, Most Sparkly, or Most Outrageous Flip Flops! Invite a Friend, whether she attends church or not. Come Hear Page Hughes of Anchor Deep Ministries and Author of “Party with a Purpose,” as she brings the message God lays on her heart! In addition to preparing what Flip Flops you are going to wear, prepare your hearts for the message God has in store for all of us. It’s going to be a great evening! Cost is $12 in advance. The Cullman Downtown Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 1519 St. Joseph St. NW. Every day at noon will be an open discussion meeting, Sunday at 7 p.m. is an open discussion and speaker meeting, Tuesday at 7 p.m. is an open discussion meeting (with meal at 6:30 p.m.), Wednesday at 7 p.m.; Thursday at 10:30 a.m. is women's big book study; and Friday at 7 p.m. is a closed discussion meeting (no card signed).
