Funeral services for Julius Waymon Guthrie, 91, of Cullman, will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Missionary Grove Baptist Church with interment in adjoining cemetery, Revs. Billy Joe Gable and Haynes Riddle officiating. The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Guthrie passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Woodland Village Nursing Home. He was born May 6, 1923 to parents Grady and Maudie Tubbs Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adrew Guthrie; six brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron (Barbara) Guthrie, Horace (Geraldine) Guthrie; three daughters, Doris (Bill) Moore, Wanda (R.W.) Huddleston, Angela (Dexter) Murphree; 5 sisters, Vera Mae Harbison, Vida Harbison, Ruthie Johns, Louise White, Betty Jean Jones; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday night from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
