CULLMAN – Officers with the Cullman Police Department are investigating a stabbing incident between two unnamed males, which has sent one man to the hospital and another man to jail.

CPD officer Jerry Perkins said the initial call came in as a dispute in progress.

"The initial call was a dispute in progress, a fight, then it was called back in as a stabbing," Officer Perkins said. "The incident occurred somewhere between I-65 and Hwy. 278, near the Days Inn."

Neither the victim or the suspect's name have been released at this time, as the incident is still under investigation.

The victim has been transported to CRMC. His injuries are unclear but one officer on the scene said they did not appear to be life threatening.

"A male fitting the description of the suspect has been arrested for public intoxication, but we are still investigating his involvement, or non-involvement, with the incident," Officer Perkins said. "The victim has been transported to the hospital."
