Hershel Clinton Rasco, 82, of Guntersville, Alabama, born to Ronald and Flora Rasco, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026.

He was a stubborn old soul who never wavered in his love for Mountain Dew and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Hershel was as hard-headed as they come, set in his ways, and always ready to have the last word. If you knew him, you knew that behind that stubbornness was a man who loved nothing more than to pester anyone he could.

He endured the heartbreaking loss of the love of his life and one of his beloved children. Those losses left an emptiness that words could never fully describe. Though he carried that heartache with him, the love he had for them never faded.

He was loved more than he probably ever realized, and he will be missed more than words can describe. The laughter, the aggravation, the stories, and even the moments when he tested everyone’s patience will become treasured memories in the days ahead.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering are over and that he is reunited with the loved ones who went before him.

Until we meet again, may he rest peacefully, knowing he was loved and will never be forgotten.

Hershel was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Flora Rasco; his wife, “Gerdie” Ann Rasco; his son, Billy Bailey; and his siblings, Ralph (Jan) Rasco, Joyce Gatlin, Gail (Kenneth) Adams, and Sharon (Ben) Bellew.

He is survived by his children, Tommy Rasco and Tammy (Joel) Edge; his grandchildren, Telia (Danny) Creque, Treyla (Mason) Lindsey, Heath (Selitia) Garner, Corey (Kristen) Edge, and Heather (Byron) Williams; his great-grandchildren, Reece Garner, Kirra Garner, Brooks Creque, Madi Kate Lindsey, Caden Edge, Tenley Edge, and Bailey Williams; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The Rasco family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to “The Hugger” Michelle Simmons and Hospice of North Alabama for the phenomenal care, compassion, and support they provided to Hershel and his family during this difficult time. Your kindness and dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
