CULLMAN, Ala. – Seniors ages 55 and older will receive free admission to the Cullman County Fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, during the fair’s annual Senior Day.

The event – Aveanna Home Health & Hospice Senior Citizens Day – will take place at the Cullman County Fairgrounds, 1501 Sportsman Lake Road NW.

Cullman County Commission on Aging Director Stephanie Lawson said the event will have free admission, free parking and free lunch for the first 400 in attendance.

“The Lions Club concession stand will also be open for business, offering additional select food items for purchase for those who would like to enjoy more food options throughout the day,” Lawson said. “There will be live entertainment taking place (in) the theater, and attendees will have the opportunity to walk through and enjoy all the fair exhibits. While the exhibits will be open for viewing, rides will not be operating during Senior Day.”

Lawson said Aveanna is the main event sponsor and continues to do a wonderful job helping make Senior Day a special occasion for the local senior community each year.

“Cullman County Commission on Aging extends our sincere appreciation to Aveanna, Premier Bank and the Lions Club for their support and partnership in making this event possible,” she said. “The collaboration between Aveanna and the Lions Club helps provide a welcoming opportunity for seniors throughout the community to gather, enjoy entertainment and bring back memories of our younger years at the Cullman County Fair.”

Lawson said her favorite thing about this event is truly just soaking it all in.

“Simply getting to be outside, especially when the weather cooperates – which we’ve been very blessed in my time here, with all the seniors,” she said. “Watching them enjoy the entertainment and having a good time, it’s all such a blessing.”

Seniors seeking additional information about the Oct. 21 event can contact the Cullman County Commission on Aging at 256-734-1241.
