CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation’s Little Pink Dress benefit, held Oct. 6 at Stone Bridge Farms, raised more than $80,000 to help support local cancer patients.

Foundation Board President Jennifer Limerick said the event was sold out, with 605 tickets purchased.

“We have raised $81,110.47 so far,” she said. “We have items that weren’t picked up so we will have those funds to add to this total. Having the event sold out again was great! Last year we had 617 tickets sold and raised $88,000, so this year was a little less, but we are very pleased with the support!”

Limerick said she feels like this year’s event went even better than in previous years.

“With each year we try to improve and we are open to any suggestions in order to get better,” she said. “We would love to have more volunteers get involved next year.”

The tickets to attend Little Pink Dress were $70 each or participants could purchase a table of eight seats for $500. There were also auctions.

Event sponsors included Carl and Jan Sutton, Diamond Plaza Properties, Drinkard Development, Bill Smith, Cullman Regional, Alabama Outdoor Lighting, Clearview Cancer Institute, Peoples Bank, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Grandpoint Pharmacy and Rotary Club of Cullman.

“We didn’t get the sponsorship support this year like we have in the past, and that’s something we’d like to push and work on,” Limerick said.

Those who poured into the event and made it a success were familiar faces, she added.

“I want to give a big shoutout to all the waiters that make this event so much fun,” Limerick said. “They do an amazing job every year and we are so grateful for them. Klassy Kickers donate their time every year to dance for us and we would like to thank them for all their efforts. The Wallace Jazz Band is amazing and donate their time and talent with us each year and we are so thankful for them. Mr. Hicks takes note that every detail matters and he donates bowties for the waiters to wear every year. Last, our amazing emcee Samuel Tucker works with us throughout the year with great ideas and advice. He is also on our advisory board and we would love to thank him for his continued support.”

Of volunteer opportunities and services, she shared, “Our Foundation operates through the Nurse Navigation program at CRMC, so any patient needing assistance needs to apply for assistance through that program. CCBBF also has an outreach program where we visit breast cancer surgery patients at the hospital giving them a bag of items needed for recovery. These bags have a drain bags shirt, a shower drain bag  holder, a pillow, blanket, seat belt cover, socks, mastectomy bra, breast forms, educational materials, magazines, note pad, pen, activity books to help patients through their recovery process. This small group of ladies that help have a passion for cancer patients and not all our volunteers are cancer survivors but ladies that love to help others and have a heart to serve others.”
