CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs has proclaimed October 2026 Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) Month in the city of Cullman, recognizing the contributions of ADK members to education and their communities.

Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization for women educators founded in Missouri in 1947 by Agnes Shipman Robertson, Marie Neal, Marion Southall and Hattie Poppino. Membership is honorary and based on peer recognition, with members committed to supporting education and serving their communities through educational, civic, cultural and charitable efforts.

ADK promotes educational excellence, professional and personal development, fellowship and world understanding while supporting altruistic projects, grants and scholarships. Each October, members celebrate the accomplishments of Alpha Delta Kappa and honor the organization’s founders and their vision of recognizing outstanding women educators.

Cullman is home to two ADK chapters, Beta Delta and Alpha Theta, whose members include active and retired educators who continue giving back to the community.

“We’re proud to recognize our local Alpha Delta Kappa members,” said Jacobs. “These ladies have spent their lives helping others learn, and many of them are still giving back to our community even after retirement. We appreciate them and all they do.”

Jacobs’ proclamation recognizes ADK members for combining their energy and talents to enrich the lives of people in Cullman and throughout the world.
