CULLMAN, Ala. – The 10th annual Bernard Blues & BBQ Festival will take place this weekend, Sept. 12-13, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School.

Along with favorite events, this year’s festival will also feature new activities, such as art classes, a cooking demonstration and special commemorative items to mark the festival’s 10th anniversary such as a St. Bernard coloring book.

Regional musicians will perform throughout the weekend, including Nathan Tate, Elnora Spencer, The Charlie Soul Band and Lindy Urban, along with a student performance.

Guests can also purchase artisan goods, including handmade pottery, jewelry, woven baskets, ceramics, stained glass, potted plants and more. The food at the festival will feature smoked chicken, pulled pork, ribs, Boston butt, Polish sausage and more barbecue than ever. Funnel cakes, ribbon fries, strawberry waffles, fresh-squeezed lemonade and baked goods produced by the monks will also be offered.

Barbecue lovers will also have four new sauces to try during this year’s festival. The expanded selection will give guests even more ways to enjoy their favorite smoked meats and discover a new favorite flavor.

This year’s grand prize is $10,000, and raffle tickets are still available.

The festival will run rain or shine. A $10 donation is requested at the gate for each person 13 years of age or older. Those children aged 12 and under are admitted at no cost and free parking will be available for all festival guests. All the money raised will go to St. Bernard Prep School. No pets are permitted.

The festival is next to the Ave Maria Grotto, which will have special weekend admission pricing. St. Bernard is located at 1600 St. Bernard Dr. in Cullman.
