The Link will hold volunteer orientation Thursday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m. (The Link of Cullman County)

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Link of Cullman County is holding a volunteer orientation on Thursday, Sept 10, at 5:30 p.m. in classroom No. 3 at 708 Ninth St. SE. The orientation offers a chance for aspiring volunteers to talk through ways they can serve and make an impact on local families.

Organizers advise that anyone can help serve by possibly leading a parenting class, mentoring students or finding other opportunities to help local families.

They advise that if you’re looking for a hands-on way to plug in with supporting our community’s children, “VIPS is a great place to start. Valued, Inspired, Prepared Students, our school-based mentoring program, kicks off at the end of September and could be the perfect fit for you. VIPS mentors meet weekly with the same student or small group to encourage, support and build meaningful relationships in both our county and city schools.”

If mentoring isn’t the best fit, there are other opportunities. The Link also regularly accepts monetary items and food donations to support community demands.

The orientation aims to introduce those on the fence about how to become active in the community; participants can have an in-depth, in-person discussion about the time and effort it will require.

Pizza will be served and any who are interested in attending are encouraged to sign up at https://tinyurl.com/LinkVolunteerInterest

The Link wrote, “Whether volunteering with The Pantry, mentoring in local schools, or teaching a personal pathway class, our volunteers are the heartbeat of The Link. By sharing your time, skills, and compassion, you can help strengthen families and meet real needs in our community.“
