CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Electric Cooperative is asking its members and other residents to help provide two everyday necessities for local babies and their families.
The Cooperative’s Diapers & Wipes Drive began Sept. 1 and will continue through Oct. 12. Donations collected at CEC’s Cullman and Addison offices will benefit First Source for Women, a faith-based pregnancy resource center serving women, parents and families throughout Cullman County and surrounding communities.
Those who donate will be entered for a chance to win gift cards to The Butcher and Ace Hardware. CEC has not announced the value of the gift cards or when the drawing will be held.
“Every donation makes an impact. Thank you for helping us give local families a little extra support!” the Cooperative stated.
First Source accepts diapers ranging from preemie through size 6, along with boxes and refill packages of baby wipes. A recent list of the center’s most pressing needs specifically highlighted size 4, 5 and 6 diapers. Most donated baby supplies should be new and unopened.
The drive will help replenish supplies distributed through First Source’s Baby Boutique and other assistance programs. Parents can earn “baby bucks” by completing pregnancy, parenting and life-skills classes, then use them to obtain diapers, wipes, clothing and other necessities for their children.
The need for those supplies is substantial. The Tribune reported that First Source distributed approximately 21,000 diapers to local mothers and caregivers in 2023. The nonprofit reports that it served more than 800 clients in 2024.
In addition to material assistance, First Source offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, options counseling, parenting education, referrals, father mentoring and prenatal support. Its services are supported through community donations and offered at no cost to clients.
“We are seeing more clients than ever, and their needs are outpacing our available funding,” First Source Executive Director Meredith Little told The Tribune in 2024.
CEC’s participation reflects “Concern for Community,” one of the seven Cooperative principles outlined by the member-owned utility. The Cooperative has regularly partnered with local nonprofits, schools and public agencies on projects intended to assist residents throughout its service area.

Cullman Electric Cooperative’s main office is located at 1749 Eva Road NE in Cullman. The office is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Addison office is located at 31132 U.S. Highway 278 West in Addison. It is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.
