Jay Kyle Meadows, 97, of Hazel Green, Alabama, was born February 14, 1929, in Morgan CO., Alabama, and passed away August 31, 2026. Through a long life marked by steady perseverance and quiet strength, Jay met each season with resilience, offering kindness with a generous hand and a work ethic that spoke more loudly than any title ever could. His enduring appreciation for history reflected a mind that valued what came before and a heart that honored the lessons of a life well lived.
Jay served in the U.S. Army in the late 1940’s, carrying forward a deep respect for country and duty. He later pursued his education with determination, graduating from Athens College using the GI Bill and earning his master’s degree from George Peabody at Vanderbilt—achievements that reflected both discipline and a commitment to making the most of every opportunity.
Jay is survived by a loving host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He and his wife, Dorothy, attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cullman, where faith and fellowship helped shape the rhythms of their life together. Jay wished to be remembered for his love of Jesus, family, and country—devotions that guided him and gave his life its steady purpose.
Visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Ave North West, Cullman, AL 350555827, on September 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at Moss-Service Funeral Home on September 5, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., with Shannon Black officiating. A Committal Service will take place at Cullman City Cemetery, 9th St SW, Cullman, AL 35055, on September 5, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
