Seven local high schools earn AHSAA Sportsmanship Award for 2025-26 school year

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Alabama High School Athletics Association announced today the 94 schools that were selected for the 2025-26 Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday. The award is presented to schools that went the entire 2025-26 athletics year without recording a single ejection across all sports.

“We are extremely proud of the emphasis placed on sportsmanship with AHSAA member schools,” said Executive Director Heath Harmon in a press release. He added, “While we are not perfect, we continue to strive to provide a sportsmanship model we all can be proud of.”

Local schools that were honored are listed below, along with how many years they’ve been named:

  • 1A Cullman Christian, two years
  • 1A Meek High School, six years
  • 1A St. Bernard Prep,
  • 2A Cold Springs High School, 10 years
  • 3A Hanceville High School, five years
  • 3A Holly Pond High School, 11 years
  • 3A Vinemont High School, eight years

The AHSAA plans to formally recognize the principal and athletic directors of all awarded schools with a luncheon on July 24 during the 30th annual Summer Conference at the Montgomery Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. Additionally, ten of the schools will receive a $1,000 dollar grant presented by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.
