HARTSELLE, Ala. – Sneezy is looking for his people! He has been carefully looked after by the employees at Three Bees Thrift Store in Hartselle, but is in search of his forever home.

Alexandra Lauren Vengrouskie is the owner of Three Bees Thrift & More. “Going on six years!” she told The Tribune.

Vengrouskie has been searching for the perfect home for Sneezy, and said they’ve had a long journey with him.

Sneezy was found in Cullman County where he wandered up to a woman’s trailer, crying.

“It was Jennifer, from the Spotted Ladybug Thrift Store, she called me about the cat. She knew I had rescued animals in some bad situations,” Vengrouskie said. “Not my first rodeo with one-eyed pets! She sent me videos of this poor kitty. His eyes were so bad and he was so dirty – he  just looked about half dead! I took him home, gave him a bath and cleaned him up. I had a strong feeling he was going to lose his eyes so I started his long process of vet checkups, eye medications, oral medications and we were having to give him amoxicillin every 12 hours.”

She explained that due to frequent drainage he was very snotty and would sneeze constantly. Thus his name, Sneezy.

“When he was about 7 months old we neutered him and sewed up one of his eyes. Let me tell you, he was a whole different cat! After no more drainage or sneezing you could just tell he felt so much better! He was actually playing. He was feisty and spunky. He loves to carry around little toys in the store and to go outside. It was literally like having a whole different cat,” Vengrouskie said.

She said Sneezy still has one of his eyes, though it may eventually need to be removed. For now, he is happy and healthy!

“He loves to hang out at the store. Just the other day he kept trying to get in a customer’s car seat with the baby and be carried around. He loves people, dogs, other cats and he just loves everybody. And so many customers love him, too. I’m just happy I could help him have a better life than where he started,” Vengrouskie noted.

She advised that they will only be considering very serious adopters who know Sneezy and have met him to understand what they’re taking on.

“Come talk to me in person at the shop in the afternoons if you think you’re the best fit for him,” She wrote on a recent Facebook post.
