Norman Aaron Brown, age 74 of Arley, passed away April 22, 2026, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.
He was born October 14, 1952, to Thomas and Levean Brown. Aaron was the Police Chief of Arley for 28 years, he dedicated his life to the Arley Police Department and Winston County Sheriff’s office for over 30 years. He loved the Arley Community and the Meek Tigers, always showing up in support. Aaron was the co-founder of the Arley Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Alabama Chief of Police Association, and also the Smith Lake Task Force Dive Team. He was a “One-of-a-Kind Man”, and did not meet a stranger, and it was said he “carried the police jurisdiction sign in the trunk of his car.” Aaron had a great sense of humor and had the best stories over the years to tell. He was hard working family man.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Meek Baptist Church in Arley, where the service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Liberty Baptist Church in Helicon. Brother Corey Cochran will officiate.
Pallbearers will be his fellow law enforcement officers, honoring his decades of dedicated service.
Aaron is survived by his son, Wes (Mary Beth) Brown; grandchildren, Liam Brown, Lillie Caldwell, and Lexi Brown; brothers, Clayton (Carolyn) Brown, Kennith (Terri) Brown; Allen Brown and Ron (Melinda) Brown; sisters, Susan Brown and Wanda Reese; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Levean Brown; and brothers, James Brown, Clifton Brown, Jackie Brown and Lee Brown.
