HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Two Wallace State Community College students were recognized by the Alabama Community College System at its 31st annual All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program on Friday, April 10, at the Embassy Suites in Birmingham-Hoover.

Brooke Drummond of Eva and Matthew McLeroy of Double Springs each earned $1,000 scholarships from the Paths for Success Foundation that can be used at any public or private college of their choice.

“The students recognized today are the cream of the crop, epitomizing excellence and strong leadership,” said ACCS Chancellor Jimmy Baker. “These students expect and deliver the high standards the ACCS is known for.”

“Brooke and Matthew represent the very best of Wallace State — students who combine academic excellence with leadership, service and a genuine commitment to making a difference,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics. “We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see them continue their educational journeys and positively impact their communities.”

Sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the American Association of Community Colleges, the All-Alabama Academic Team recognizes students selected for their academic excellence and intellectual rigor, leadership and service, and a commitment to extending their education beyond the classroom to benefit society.

Both Drummond and McLeroy plan to continue their education at four-year universities. Drummond plans to transfer to Athens State, while McLeroy will transfer to the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
