Bunnie C . Dunn, 81, of Madison, Alabama passed away peacefully Thursday, February 19, 2026. He was born June 3, 1944, to Lavant and Marie Dunn of Cullman, Alabama, who preceded him in death.
Surviving family members include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Trimble Dunn, sons Eric Dunn and Nathan (Suzanne)
Dunn, brother Horace (Shirley) Dunn, and grandchildren Natalie Dunn, Alexander Dunn and Isaac Dunn as well as many additional family and friends.
After growing up on a farm in Cullman, Mr. Dunn served in the United States Air Force for 25 years. His service included Turkey, Georgia’s Warner Robins AFB, South Korea and Gunter AFB in Montgomery. After retiring from the military, he worked several years for the state of Alabama in Montgomery.
Mr. Dunn faithfully served in multiple congregations in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. He was a dedicated member of Thrivent (formerly Aid Association for Lutherans) and worked through that organization to facilitate many acts of service to the community. Mr. Dunn also actively participated in prison ministry through Alabama Volunteers in Corrections. He also helped with worship services at nursing homes in the Montgomery area.
He loved watching Alabama and Auburn football, Atlanta Braves baseball and many older western movies. He loved his family. And most of all, he continues his life-long love for the Lord Jesus Christ, as he now rests with God for eternity.
Visitation will take place at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, AL on Sunday, February 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 4 p.m. at Cullman City Cemetery.
Pastor Derek Waffel of Ascension Lutheran Church, Huntsville, will be officiating.
