CULLMAN, Ala. – Students at Cullman City Primary School had a chance to learn some of the real science behind fictional superpowers when the McWane on the Move: Superhero Science program made a stop in Cullman on Friday, Feb. 6, thanks to a recent grant.

The event was a STEM assembly designed for all kindergarten, first- and second-grade students. The grant for the event was acquired by CCPS STEM Teacher Anna Anderson, with the support and encouragement of CCPS administrators Dr. Elizabeth Shaddix and Tyler Skinner.

Superhero Science is an assembly-style presentation that uses exciting demonstrations to explore the science behind superpowers. Through interactive and visually dynamic experiments, students are introduced to foundational concepts in physical science and chemistry in a way that is fun, memorable and developmentally appropriate for young learners. The program was selected specifically for its ability to captivate early learners while reinforcing key science concepts.

“Young students are introduced to science through excitement, curiosity and wonder — helping build positive attitudes toward STEM at an early age,” Anderson said. “The assembly supports classroom instruction by connecting abstract concepts to real-world demonstrations. All students are able to experience high-quality science outreach regardless of transportation or scheduling barriers.”

“Cullman City Primary School is proud to offer enriching STEM experiences like this one and looks forward to continuing to grow opportunities that inspire learning, creativity and curiosity in every child,” said the system.
