CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman City Schools has seen its guidance counseling programs honored among the best in the state this past year, with several schools receiving the Alabama School Counseling Program of Distinction Award.  Cullman High School, Cullman Middle School, West Elementary School and Cullman City Primary School were all honored with the prestigious award for this past school year.  The Alabama School Counseling Program of Distinction recognizes school counseling programs that demonstrate an exemplary level of implementation of a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program. It examines eight components that align with the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools (State Plan) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.  “This incredible achievement reflects years of commitment, teamwork and passion in creating a school counseling program that truly supports our students,” Cullman High School Principal Allison Tuggle said. “We take immense pride in the remarkable efforts of our dedicated staff, who continually uplift our students, families and community. Together, we’re building a brighter future!”  Cullman City Primary School Principal Elizabeth Shaddix added that this recognition highlights the comprehensive work and meaningful impact that our school counseling program has within the school.   “The program is focused on meeting student needs through data-driven practices. This is especially important, as our students have a wide variety of needs, and I am proud that this model has been implemented and recognized,” Shaddix said. “Mrs. Christy Free does an outstanding job supporting the diverse range of students and age groups at CCPS. We are grateful for the thoughtful and dedicated way she has implemented this model in our school. It is a privilege to work with her, and our students benefit greatly from her knowledge and expertise.”
