VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council held its scheduled organizational meeting on Monday, Nov. 3, which served as the official swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected mayor and council members.
The evening opened with an invocation led by Vinemont Middle School Principal Todd Johnson, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by members of Girl Scout Troop #10288. Town Clerk and Treasurer Kayecea Sasser administered the oath of office to each elected official.
Those sworn in included:
- Mayor: Bonnie Goodwin
- Council Place 1: Kelley Little
- Council Place 2: Nina Justice
- Council Place 3: Ross Campbell
- Council Place 4: Michael Ashbaugh
- Council Place 5: Ashley Shrader
Following the swearing-in, Sasser officially turned the meeting over to new Mayor Goodwin, who presided over the evening’s organizational business.
The council approved several key resolutions to establish Town leadership and procedures for the upcoming term:
- Resolution No. 2025-11-01: Appointment of Chairman Pro Tempore Ross Campbell
- Resolution No. 2025-11-02: Appointment of Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser; Madison Hunt, the assistant clerk, administered the oath of office to Sasser, who will continue serving as clerk and treasurer
- Resolution No. 2025-11-03: Appointment of Town Attorney Heath Meherg
- Resolution No. 2025-11-04: Ratification of current depositories for Town accounts
- Resolution No. 2025-11-05: Establishment of checking account policies and rules
- Resolution No. 2025-11-01: Establishment of time, place and procedures for regular council meetings
All resolutions were approved unanimously.
The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will take place on Monday, Nov. 10, with the work session beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting to follow at 6. Vinemont Town Hall is located at 36 Patton Drive.
