CULLMAN, Ala. – The halls of Cullman City Schools are bustling once again as 3,200 students returned on Wednesday, Aug. 6, marking the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. With enthusiasm and high expectations, students were greeted with smiles and encouragement as they embarked on a new academic journey.
The system released the following report this week:
“Among this year’s highlights, the district welcomes its largest grade levels with 266 students in 8th grade and 256 students in 10th grade, reflecting an average of 238 students per grade level across the district.
“The commitment to safety and growth is evident as construction progresses at Cullman Middle, Cullman High School, and West Elementary. This initiative is part of a comprehensive safety and growth campaign aimed at preparing for future expansions and ensuring our campuses remain safe, conducive learning environments for all.
“Over the summer, the Cullman City School Board, in partnership with the Cullman City Council, finalized an agreement to enhance school safety measures with dedicated School Resource Officers (SROs) now stationed at each campus. “Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts, stating, “Our partnership with Mayor Jacobs and the City Council is pivotal. Together, we are committed to maintaining a secure environment that supports educational excellence.”
“The new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) marks a proactive step towards ensuring student safety and well-being within Cullman City Schools, underscoring the community’s dedication to fostering a secure educational environment. With increased SRO presence and enhanced safety protocols, Cullman City Schools sets a benchmark in school safety standards across the state.
“Reflecting on the achievements of the previous year, Superintendent Kallhoff highlighted notable accolades, including East Elementary’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School and Cullman City Primary School’s designation under the Attorney General Safe Schools Initiative. Additionally, the district achieved a remarkable 343 IEQ score in the COGNIA accreditation, surpassing the network average.
