WEST POINT, Ala. – West Point Intermediate School has been named a National Gold Star School by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).
The national recognition honors elementary and middle schools that demonstrate excellence inside and outside the classroom.
West Point Intermediate earned the distinction based on its performance in NAESP’s Three Pillars of Effective Schools:
- A positive and established school culture
- Empowered students and faculty
- Strong systems that support effective decision-making
The application process also included recommendations from the superintendent, parents, school employees and community members.
School officials said the recognition reflects the work of Principal Mike Jones, students, faculty, staff, families and the West Point community.
The award also recognizes the school’s commitment to continued improvement and its efforts to create a supportive learning environment for students and employees.
