Summertime heat in Alabama can be brutal, but the need for outdoor fun doesn’t stop! If you’re looking for a way to have a nice early morning or mid-afternoon trip out of the house, here is a perfectly mapped out adventure for you.

- Pool essentials like sunscreen, bathing suits, change of clothes, sunglasses, hats and anything your family will require

Located at 7465 County Road 1435 in Vinemont is a Marathon convenience store you need to see. The fun of this stop is what’s outside the store. An airplane is displayed overhead – a twin-engine 1939 Beechcraft 18, to be exact. Check out the details and grab your favorite juice from inside.
Once you’ve taken it all in, head to Cullman County Public Library at 200 Clark St. NE downtown. Here you can get a library card, if you don’t have one already, and pick out a movie or two and a good family friendly book.
Grab your items and wave goodbye to your new library friends, because it’s snack time!
Near the 600 block of First Avenue Southeast is the Cullman County Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden. This features a small walking trail with several park benches to sit and share your lunch.
When you’re finished eating, explore the summer blooms and a shaded walk beneath the trees. Remember to pick up after yourself to keep beautiful community places such as this clean.
If you ate all your lunch, drank your juice and found the Demonstration Garden’s butterfly – it’s time to go splash around!
Sportsman Lake Park at1544 Sportsman Lake Road NW has much to offer! From its playground to train rides, hiking, mini-golf and splash pad. You’re guaranteed to find something fun to do, though on a hot day the splash pad is highly recommended!
After this endeavor, I advise you to round up and head back home! Get in comfy clothes and put on one of those movies you picked up from the library!
During the movie you can color pretty pictures of the fun day you all had. These will be perfect additions to your refrigerator.
