Vehicle break-ins reported at Hwy. 157 businesses; Joppa man charged

CULLMAN, Ala. â€“ A Joppa man has been arrested and charged following reports of thefts from vehicles at two businesses along Alabama Highway 157, according to the Cullman Police Department.

Skylar Dale Hill, 28, was taken into custody after officers responded April 28 to reports of thefts from vehicles at La Quinta Inn & Suites and later at the north Chick-fil-A.

According to the CPD, officers and investigators used surveillance footage and other investigative work to quickly identify the suspect’s vehicle. 

Police said the vehicle was later located at a nearby residence.

Investigators allegedly  recovered multiple stolen items from the vehicle. Many of those items were returned to the victims.

Hill was charged with three counts of unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, one count of first-degree theft of property and one count of fourth-degree theft of property.

The CPD said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

The department commended Investigator Hunter Riddlesperger, Investigator Chad Ashworth and Shift 1A patrol officers for their teamwork and quick response. According to CPD, their efforts and attention to detail were instrumental in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
