Marialyce D. Lavelle was born 22 July, 1947 and went to be with our Lord on 7 April, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard John Lavelle and Phyllis Louise (Doe) Lavelle and is survived by her brother John Henry Lavelle and Sister-in-Law Patty Lavelle and nephews Justin (wife Ashi) and Jordan Lavelle.
She graduated from Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1968. Completed Training at Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia 1971 and graduated with a BSN in 1983 and Masters of Nursing in 1986 from Emory University. She was a member of American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Choral Guild of Atlanta. She also served our country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.
It was her love of the St Benedictine sisters that brought her to Cullman, AL and she became an Oblate OSB at Sacred Heart Monastery. She worked as a CRNA at Cullman Regional Medical Center for over a decade.
She was a kind-hearted, strong-willed woman, with deep love for her feline companions, who held a place in her heart far beyond that of just pets. She will be deeply missed by Drs. Tony and Nikki Ruse and their sons, Joseph and Nicholas, the Alwis family, and her close Oblate friends, Julie McMillan, Patricia Sharpton, Marilyn Williams.
Funeral Mass for Marialyce will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Monastery at 916 Convent Rd NE, Cullman, AL 35055. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Monastery Catholic Cemetery.
