WALTER, Ala. – Two people died as a result of a two-vehicle wreck Sunday evening in the Walter community in Cullman County.
Alabama State Troopers on Monday morning identified the victims as Oneal Kelley, 84, and Martha Kelley, 79, both of Arab.
Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday. They said Oneal Kelley was fatally injured when the 2017 Nissan Rogue he was driving was struck by a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Aaron C. Mitchell, 33, of Hanceville.
Oneal Kelly was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Nissan, Martha Kelley, was critically injured and transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 91 near County Road 649, approximately 6 miles east of Holly Pond, in Cullman County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
