Funeral Services for Joan Dean Hill, 88, of Hanceville, will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12th at Hanceville Funeral Home. Bro. Christopher Dotson will be officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Joan was born July 30, 1937, to S.A. and Tressie Dean. She graduated from Hanceville High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Charles Hill, on January 30, 1959. They were married 33 years at the time of his death in 1992.
Joan was a loving and devoted wife who cared for her beloved husband during his battle with cancer.
“Mawmaw Joan” loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter and was so proud of their many accomplishments. She loved Jesus and spent many years teaching Sunday School, Girls in Action, and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed working in her yard and maintaining a variety of beautiful flowers.
She will be remembered for her unconditional love and her many acts of kindness to family and friends.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her children Cindy Bland (Jimmy), Janice Meyer (Bobby); grandchildren, Jessica Raper (Justin), Tyler Bland (Jennifer), Cory Meyer, Dean Meyer; great-grandchildren; Dalyn Bland, Anastasia Bland, Caleb Raper, Olivia Raper, Kynslee Meyer, Karson Meyer; sister, Beverly Dean, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hill; her parents, S.A. and Tressie Dean; her brother, Paul Dean; her sisters, Dorothy Mays and Patricia Ponder; her stepmother, Edith Dean.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Bland, Cory Meyer, Dean Meyer, Justin Raper, Dalyn Bland, and Caleb Raper.
The family would like to thank Hanceville Nursing Home and North Alabama Hospice for all their care and support.
