CULLMAN, Ala. – The United Way of Cullman County Young Professionals hosted their popular Crawfish Boil at Hank’s Sports Bar & Rumors Deli Friday, March 27, featuring great food and fundraising.

The Crawfish Boil is one of the group’s largest annual fundraisers, supporting United Way’s 18 partner agencies serving Cullman and Winston counties.

Resource Development & Outreach Manager Taylor Johnson said the boil has long been a staple of the Young Professionals’ efforts to give back locally.

“This is our largest fundraising event that our Young Professionals put on,” she said. “We do other events throughout the year, but this is their way of giving back to the 18 partner agencies in our community.”

Proceeds from ticket sales remain in the local area, directly benefiting agencies that focus on health, financial stability, basic services and building a healthy community. While many United Way organizations have administrative fees, local board members cover those costs to ensure donations from the event stay in Cullman and Winston counties.

“Every dollar that goes into this event stays right here at home,” Johnson said.

This was the first year the event took place at Hank’s, a longtime sponsor of the fundraiser.

Beyond attending events, community members can get involved with the Young Professionals group through volunteer opportunities and service-based scholarship programs. Those interested in participating can contact United Way at 256-739-2948 for more information.
