DORA, Ala. – Looking to bounce back from a tough 13-11 loss to Hubbertville last Saturday, the Addison Bulldogs traveled to Dora to take on another team of Bulldogs. After a competitive first inning, Addison had completely taken control of the game by the third inning, running away with a 12-2 win.

Taking the mound for Addison was Kiah Lake, who finished his strong five-inning outing with just four hits and two earned runs while striking out five batters. Dora’s starter, Mason Winkler, was pulled in the first inning after allowing loaded bases and an Addison run.

Addison broke the ice just batters into the game. Canaan Speegle smacked a leadoff double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then made it home safely on a passed ball. On the next at bat, Ben Bridges walked, and with loaded bases, another ball got past Dora’s catcher allowing Tucker Thompson to make it home. After Addison put a pair of points on the board, Dora’s Gage Hogland ripped a ball over the right field wall to make it a 2-1 Addison lead at the end of one.

In the top of the second, Addison’s Bulldogs added to their lead. Preuitt Woods lined one to center for a single, then Conner Lane drove him home after a pop and ground out. Just moments later, Stone Talley got on with a single, then the bases were cleared after a missed play at first on a grounder from Jaxson Williams. After making it 5-1, Lake threw a nine-pitch inning, striking out two and drawing a pop-out.

Dora’s hopes of slowing down the Addison offense were put to rest in the top of the third. Lake and Ben Bridges made it on, then Woods cleared the bases with a hard-hit ball to the outfield. Just moments later, after Speegle kept things going with a double, Thompson cleared the bases with a ground ball that made it to the outfield. The same thing would happen one more time before the end of the inning. Talley brought two more Bulldogs home to make it an 11-1 Addison lead, reinforced by another one-two-three inning from Lake on defense.

In the bottom of the fourth, Dora finally found home plate again. Soon after, Lane got on for Addison in the leadoff spot in the fifth on a dropped third strike. During the next at bat, Lane stole second and third, eventually being driven home by a Talley sac fly to stretch the lead back to ten, ending the 12-2 Addison win after the fifth inning.

Leading Addison at the plate, Speegle recorded two doubles in his 2-4 performance. Talley ended the day leading in runs batted in, sending three runners home while going 2-2. Thompson also had an impressive day, going 1-3 with two RBIs and scoring two runs himself.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow in a home game against Belgreen at 4:30 p.m.
