CULLMAN, Ala. – The Alabama Tulip Festival is officially open at Cullman’s 4D Farm.
Months of planting and preparation went into the beautiful tulip fields on the property.
Owner Beth Daniel said, “Tulips are very weather-dependent, so we are hoping they continue to bloom and give a good showing. We are open as long as the blooms last. The weather this spring will definitely make it a short (but colorful) season. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, as we’ll be posting frequent updates and important details.”
Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. while the tulips are blooming.
Guests can enjoy the gorgeous tulip fields, hyacinths and alliums blooming through springtime, photo ops (including a windmill in the tulip field and more), farm animals and play areas, giant jumping pillow and attractions and, on the weekends, mechanical rides and tubing slides.
“All attractions are open on weekends,” Daniel said. “Weekday visitors will have access to the jumping pillow, play areas and animals. Mechanical rides and tubing slides will be weekend only.”
Flowers can also be picked to take home. Tulips are $2 per stem, hyacinths are $4 per stem and alliums (when blooming) are $4 per stem.
“Alliums typically bloom a bit later, closer to Easter season. Bloom availability will vary, and we’ll keep everyone updated on social media as flowers begin to open,” said Daniel.
Admission includes access to the tulip fields, farm attractions and photo areas. Weekday admission is $13.95 online, while weekend admission is $17.95 online.
Said Daniel, “We love flowers. Every fall we plant 100 pounds of zinnia seed and 100 pounds of sunflower seed, which adds so much beauty to our fall season. In recent years, we stopped opening in the spring because Easter was short and required so many hours to prepare the farm. We decided that if we ever opened in the spring again, spring flowers would need to be part of the plan — to help extend the season and bring that same beauty we enjoy in the fall. And when you think of spring flowers… tulips are the answer! Everyone loves them.”
Daniel said they will have a variety of handmade items from local vendors on-site on the farm.
Applications will be available online, or you may email bethanndaniel@gmail.com.
“Photography passes will be available,” Daniel said. “We’re also creating several custom photo ops including a large windmill in the tulip fields, a large mushroom, ‘I Love Tulips’ in colorful wooden letters, a vintage bike, colorful benches and more.”
The Bunny Patch and Easter activities, including egg hunts, will return this year. Dates include March 28: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., March 29, 1-6 p.m. and April 3-4: 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
4D Farm is located at 7066 County Road 703 in Cullman. To purchase tickets, see a full calendar of activities or get more information, visit 4dfamilyfarm.com.
