
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Commission at its meeting on Feb. 19, approved a $499,640 tax abatement for “Project Scoreboard.” The commission said the unnamed local company plans to invest $10 million in new production equipment, creating 15 jobs paying $25 per hour and generating an estimated $345,000 for local schools.
The commission also approved Resolution 2026-12 to vacate County Road 1465, Resolution 2026-13 to reduce the speed limit to 30 miles per hour on County Road 1336 and Resolution 2026-14 to relocate voting Precinct 30 from the Kelly Community Center to Friendship Baptist Church, located at 120 County Road 1435 Vinemont, AL 35179.
Commissioners authorized Chairman Jeff Clemons to apply for funding through the Alabama Department of Transportation to rebuild County Road 1659.
A $170,000 contract for an avigation easement was approved. The commission also authorized an agreement with the North Alabama Highway Safety Office for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2025, and reappointed Linda Cabri to the Regional Housing Authority Board for a five-year term set to expire Feb. 1, 2031.
Commissioners also approved the $11,000 purchase of a 4-ton HVAC unit for the Cullman Senior Center, approved catastrophic inmate medical insurance in the amount of $85,134.84 and approved $10,829.67 for key card access upgrades through Vector Security for Cullman County judges’ offices. The commission said the judges will reimburse the installation cost, with the County covering a $110 monthly service fee.
Among other approvals was $40,000 for playground equipment at Smith Lake Park, permission for Northbrook Baptist Church to use the south parking lot of the Cullman County Courthouse on March 21, 2026, and the extension of Bid No. 1482 for fireworks to Pyro Shows of Alabama Inc.
The Cullman County Commission’s next work session will be Tuesday, March 17, at 4 p.m., with a meeting to follow at 6.
