HANCEVILLE, Ala.- The Cold Springs Lady Eagles met the Decatur Heritage Lady Eagles in the final girls matchup of Tuesday night at Tom Drake Coliseum.
After Cold Springs’ 61-41 loss to Decatur Heritage in the 2025 Elite Eight, head coach Paige Adams admitted there was a chip on their shoulder, which was clear on the floor. In an unbelievable performance, Cold Springs shot 44.7% from the floor and 42% from deep, as well as forcing more turnovers (19) then they allowed points on the way to a 57-14 rout of Decatur Heritage.
“I think we came out and played with no fear, we had a lot of veterans on the floor from last year who knew what that felt like to be put out by this team, so we had a little vengeance out for them. We were very prepared, and we executed well,” Adams said.
Leading the charge was Lady Eagles star Ella Dickerson, who scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds and recorded two steals. Aleah Addison tacked on 16 points, and Hollyn Bruer recorded six points along with a stellar seven assists, with the Lady Eagles’ veteran players putting the game comfortably out of reach by halftime.
With that, Adams used the closing minutes of each half to give hard playoff experience to some of her underclassman, like eighth grader Kotie Calvert and future Lady Eagle sharpshooter Hagen Ellis, a ninth grader.
“They’re the future of the program, and they look up to these girls right here. They’ve been there, they’ve set the stage but it’s important for them because we rely heavily on an eighth grader and a freshman off the bench. So, getting their feet wet and not letting the spotlight get to them- they’re the most cool, calm and collected kids you’ll ever meet. It’s exciting for me, for the future to know they already have this experience under their belt moving forward,” Adams said on getting to play her underclassmen.
