Hurricane Creek Park is widely known for its rock formations and waterfalls. It is roughly 70 acres of peace and tranquility – a perfect place for a nice walk, picnic and more. I visited one morning in early February to get some fresh air and was so refreshed afterward.

It was very chilly that morning and I was actually delighted to see my breath as I walked down the staircase carefully crafted between large rocks. The further down I went, the louder the sound from the flowing creek. The birds stirring in the trees and curious squirrels were my only company.

I hadn’t realized the intricacy of moss and stone in my previous visits. It had rained a day or so prior so the falls were flowing majestically into the creek. Constant overflow created tiny babbling brooks the moss seemed to guide to the larger body of water. Leaves from surrounding trees had all fallen and elegantly framed the moss lining the creek with its earthy brown tones.

I crossed the creek by a fallen tree. It was a perfect bridge allowing me to admire a nearby waterfall. The warm sun peaked through overhead as I did. It is in moments like these that I know pictures won’t do nature’s beautiful details any justice, but I always try to capture it.

Hurricane Creek Park is located at 22600 U.S. Highway 31, Vinemont, AL 35179 for anyone wanting to visit!
