CULLMAN, Ala. – Five students from East Elementary and West Elementary auditioned and were selected for the 2026 Alabama All-State Elementary Choir. This is a biannual event that takes place during the Alabama Music Educators Association professional development conference.
The fifth- and sixth-grade students – Abe Warren, Ella Chambers, Alivia Black, Veronica Harding and Olivia Johnson – rehearsed music in advance for several months. They all went to Birmingham for All-State as part of an over 100-voice choir with other students from all over the state of Alabama. The choir was led by Dr. Scott Sexton, associate music professor at Troy University.
The students worked in rehearsals all day, which culminated in a great performance at the BJCC Theatre on Friday evening, Jan. 23.
