CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County’s 4D Farm has announced an addition to the family friendly attraction: tulip fields.

4D Farm Owner Beth Daniel said they are hoping to open the second week of March, but Mother Nature has the final say.

“Tulips are very weather dependent, so we’ll share official opening details as soon as we see the fields beginning to bloom,” she said. “Be sure to follow us on Facebook, as we’ll be posting frequent updates and important details.”

Weekday admission is $13.95 (online), and weekend admission $17.95 (online). Admission includes access to the tulip fields, photo ops and farm attractions. Flowers can be purchased separately. For special rates, visit www.4dfamilyfarm.com/pricing.

“All attractions are open on weekends,” Daniel said. “Weekday visitors will have access to the jumping pillow, play areas and animals. Mechanical rides and tubing slides will be weekend only.”

    Upcoming events include:

Alabama Tulip Festival, which will be held in March (dates will be announced based on bloom timing). It will be open daily while tulips are blooming from 9 a.m.- 6p.m.

Bunny Patch / Easter activities: Egg hunts and springtime fun return this year. Dates include March 28, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; March 29, 1-6 p.m.;  and April 3-4, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

“We will have tulips, hyacinths and alliums, with tulips being the star of the show,” Daniel said. “Alliums typically bloom a bit later, closer to Easter season. Bloom availability will vary, and we’ll keep everyone updated on social media as flowers begin to open.

    Flower picking prices

Tulips, $2 per stem; hyacinths, $4 per stem; alliums, $4 per stem

“We are naming it the Alabama Tulip Festival,” Daniel said. “We love flowers. Every fall we plant 100 pounds of zinnia seed and 100 pounds of sunflower seed, which adds so much beauty to our fall season. In recent years, we stopped opening in the spring because Easter was short and required so many hours to prepare the farm. We decided that if we ever opened in the spring again, spring flowers would need to be part of the plan — to help extend the season and bring that same beauty we enjoy in the fall. And when you think of spring flowers… tulips are the answer! Everyone loves them.”

Daniel said vendor applications will be opening soon for those interested in setting up on the farm. All items must be handmade. Applications will be available online, or you may email bethanndaniel@gmail.com.

“Photography passes will be available,” Daniel said. “We’re also creating several custom photo ops for the including a large windmill in the tulip fields and a giant wooden shoe (the connection between clogs and tulips is strong because they are both key visual elements that represent Dutch culture). Plus a few fun surprises we can’t wait to share!
