MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama Sec. of State Wes Allen announced last week “the identification of 186 ‘illegally registered noncitizens,’ including 25 who had illegally voted in Alabama elections.” On Monday, he released a list of counties where his office said “the illegal registrations occurred and where the illegal ballots were cast.”

The list is available at https://tinyurl.com/4pun325d.

WHNT 19 News reported: “The findings were made through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program.

“Allen said he began the process of identifying noncitizens registered to vote in Alabama after entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with DHS-USCIS, which gave his office access to the SAVE program for voter file maintenance.

“Allen said each person identified by the SAVE program had a chance to submit documentation proving U.S. citizenship. Those who didn’t provide documentation were removed, and Allen said all 186 removals have been completed.”

Cullman County Probate Judge Tammy Brown said, “The number for noncitizens registered to vote in Cullman is 1. There were NO noncitizens allowed to vote in Cullman County. Registering to vote is a process through the Board of Registrars.”

“I have been clear that our elections should be decided by American citizens and only American citizens. Through a cooperative effort with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, my office used the federal SAVE database to identify the names of people who are not American citizens but who registered to vote and, in some cases, cast ballots in our elections. I will not tolerate this,” Allen said.

Allen said he will refer these matters to local, state and federal law enforcement authorities for review and any appropriate action.
