Cullman County Schools provides update on construction projects

CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools this week provided an update on several ongoing and upcoming construction projects across the district, with multiple campus improvements progressing on schedule. 

At Hanceville Middle School, a $3.3 million addition remains on track for completion in spring 2026. The project includes six new classrooms, a library, meeting space and a tornado shelter. (Cullman County Schools)

The addition is designed to address growing enrollment and replace one of the district’s oldest school buildings.

Construction is also continuing at the Cullman County Child Development Center, where a $2.4 million expansion is expected to be completed in spring 2026.  

The project includes eight new classrooms with restrooms, a storm shelter, improved traffic flow and the replacement of mobile classroom units.

At Good Hope Elementary, a new $9 million school is under construction adjacent to Good Hope Primary and is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.  

Once complete, the existing elementary school building will be converted into a ninth-grade academy to provide additional space for Good Hope High School, which is experiencing continued enrollment growth. 

“Construction is progressing nicely on these three campuses and we are excited about the impact these will have on the schools and community moving forward,” Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette said. 

In addition, Cullman County Schools is preparing for a future groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cullman County STEM Academy, which is expected to take place later this spring. 

Pre-K program enrollment signups for Cullman County Schools are scheduled to open Jan. 15. District officials noted interest in highlighting the role early childhood education plays in preparing students for success throughout their K–12 experience.
