CULLMAN, Ala. – Jeff Lawson, a Fairview resident and longtime public servant, has announced his candidacy for Cullman County School Board, District 2, which represents the Fairview and Parkside communities. Lawson is currently an officer with the Cullman Police Department.
In an online statement announcing his campaign, Lawson cited his local roots, military service and current work inside local schools as the foundation for his decision to seek the seat.
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Cullman County School Board, District 2 (Fairview/Parkside). As a 1993 graduate of Fairview High School, this community is home to me. I have always felt a strong calling to serve others, and that commitment began after high school when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I learned the values of discipline, integrity, accountability, and service before self. Those values shape my belief that our schools should be safe, structured environments where students are challenged to grow, educators are supported in their work, and parents are respected as essential partners in education.
“In my current role as a school resource officer, I work every day inside our schools, building relationships with students, staff, and families. This daily experience gives me a clear appreciation for the strong foundation already in place and the importance of working alongside current leadership to strengthen systems and support the people who make our schools successful. I humbly asked for your prayers and your support.”
The Cullman County School Board District 2 seat will be decided during the 2026 election cycle.
