CULLMAN, Ala. – Sissy Lou is a Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix, approximately 9-10 months old, with a quiet soul and a thoughtful presence that reveals itself slowly and beautifully. She’s The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week.
An introvert by nature, Sissy Lou finds comfort in routine. Consistency gives her a sense of security and allows her confidence to grow at her own pace.
She is currently learning leash manners and responds best to calm guidance, patient encouragement and the reassuring presence of a mentor dog who helps her understand the world around her. Her confidence blossoms when she knows she is safe and supported, whether that support comes from another dog or from you.
With continued positive reinforcement, Sissy Lou shows all the makings of a therapy, companion or reading dog deluxe. Like a raw piece of clay, she is eager to be shaped into a purposeful and happy girl. Her gentle demeanor, attentiveness and emotional awareness make her especially well-suited for a home that values patience, structure and connection.
Sissy Lou’s adoption fee is $130, which covers her spay procedure, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping and a basic health check. It also supports the ongoing care of other animals while they wait for their forever homes.
Visit the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 935 Convent Road NE. It’s open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. If Sissy Lou finds her family quickly, many other deserving pets remain at the shelter, hopeful for the same chance at love and stability.
