Cullman man charged with trafficking fentanyl

CULLMAN, Ala. – A Cullman man was arrested Saturday, Dec. 20, charged with trafficking in fentanyl. Thomas Sawyer, 44, is also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.

According to the Cullman Police Department, officers assigned to Patrol Shift 1B conducted proactive enforcement in response to community drug-related complaints.

“Through their investigation, officers developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for a local residence,” said a statement from the CPD. “The Cullman Police Tactical Unit was activated to safely execute the search warrant.”

The department shared, “This enforcement action reflects our continued commitment to public safety and addressing drug-related activity within our community. This case remains under investigation. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
