HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Shirley Burden Public Library in Hanceville has a host of community events scheduled in December, January and into February.
Library Manager Teresa Rivera said the library invites all families to join in on the fun and learn.
Events include:
- Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. Agriplex – The Sweet Smells of Christmas, an evergreen program
- Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. Christmas dinner. Everyone bring a food dish. New Hanceville Mayor Paul Campbell will join us!
- Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. Mrs. Claus and author Dorenda Doyle (“The Kid and the Dog”). Take your picture with Mrs. Claus. Dorenda Doyle is an literacy advocate and writes an award-winning children’s book series. She is an energetic, entertaining and enthusiastic author who goes the extra mile. Dorenda brings books to life through her engaging and interactive presentations. She has 30-plus years as an educator and curriculum writer. She motivates children to love to read and write!
- Tuesdays, Jan. 6, 20, and Feb. 3, 17, from 11 a.m.-noon New! Want to learn Spanish? This language has become the second language in America. Add this very easy language to your skills. Ms. Alejandra Pena has been teaching Spanish for over 16 years. She can teach to all ages. If you want to brush up on this language before college, sign up for the class, too. The library is located at 201 Commercial St. in Hanceville. It’s open Tuesday-Friday 8 a.m.-5p.m., closed from noon-1 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
