Local officers complete SWAT training

CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Police Department officers and Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently completed SWAT Level 3 Hostage Rescue training. 
 
Cullman Police Chief Joey Duncan said this type of training further enhances the ability to respond to the most complex and high-risk situations.  
 
“This advanced certification reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to preparedness, professionalism and the safety of the Cullman community,” Duncan said.  
 
He continued, “Collaborative training efforts like this ensure seamless coordination when critical incidents arise and reinforce the shared goal of protecting the citizens of Cullman and Cullman County. Both agencies continue to invest in specialized training to provide the highest level of service to the community.” 
 
Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said the collaboration between the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office and the Cullman Police Department is essential to keeping the community safe.  
 
“When we work together, we combine strengths, share resources and respond faster and smarter,” Gentry said. “Our goal has always been to build a team of deputies who are better trained, better prepared and fully equipped to meet the challenges of modern law enforcement.
